Robert Jones+ Everything You Need To Know To Get You Started: How To Set it Up

How To Set it Up

Corrlinks email mailing system has been around for a few years now but there are a few of us that still have not taken the plunge and joined.

It is very straight forward to set up an account and once you have sent and receive a few emails from your loved ones in prison it will become second nature.

Using Corrlinks to send and receive emails is much more cost effective as it is much cheaper than using the phone.

Below is a short step by step guide on how to set up a Corrlinks account.

Let’s get started.

You should receive an email like this “Inmate Tom Watson” this is a system generated message. This is a message that will be sent to you when an inmate wants to communicate with you via the Corrlinks system.

Corrlinks Walkthrough In Five Easy Steps

Now make a note of the code that you received “ITYUTRFGJ” and go to Corrlinks.com
Inmate: - Tom Watson
Info@corrlinks
This is a system generated message informing you that the above-named person is a federal prisoner who seeks to add you to his/her contact list for exchanging electronic messages.  There is no message from the prisoner at this time.
When you receive one of these messages you can do one of three things which are Reject, Accept or block.

One thing you have to bear in mind is that if you choose to block a inmate you will no longer be able to receive messages from them, So if you and your loved one has had an argument and you want to block them because you are angry you better cool down first because once you block them that’s it.

1. To start off, every code that has been sent from Corrlinks is totally unique and it is the only code that you can use or you will not be able to use the system.  Your first email will have a code in it like this “ITYUTRFGJ” this is your unique code that you will use so that you can start to send and receive messages from the inmate.
2. When you decide to register an account with Corrlinks and you are filling out the online form you will have to input the unique code that you received and your email address
Identification number ITYUTRFGJ

Email Address: youraddress@hotmail.com
And notification you receive from Corrlinks will normally expire within 10 days.
Please note that the Bureau Of Prisons Staff will monitor all messages sent from you to the inmate and vice versa when you use the Corrlinks system.
As soon as you have registered with Corrlinks and you have approved the prisoner to send you messages the inmate will be sent that approval from you electronically.
Go to bop.gov for more information on the monitoring process of communications between an inmate and someone on the outside.
3. Signing up with Corrlinks is easy all you have to do is go to their main website and click on the orange register button to begin the sign up process.  You will need the email address that you received the inmate invitation from; you will also have to create a password.  When choosing your password try to use one that you will not forget.
4. It will take 30-50mins for you new Corrlinks account to be approved.  Now log into your new Corrlinks account and proceed to account manager because you need to set up inmate notification”.  This setting will tell notify you every time you receive a message from a prisoner.
Inside account manager proceed to “manage my inmate list” and tick email alert.
5. When an inmate sends you a message it will look like this
“Info you have a new Corrlinks message"
After you receive this message you can log into your Corrlinks account and send your reply.  As stated earlier all messages are screened so there can be a delay from 50mins to 2hr depending on what is happening at the prison.  If the prison is on lock down it could take even longer
